:Episode 1 - The Killing House:

Jamie Dow and Alex Leonard are the new recruits to Red Troop. There is no such thing as a gentle introduction to the SAS, however, and the new boys are tied up and put straight into a hostage-rescue exercise in the Killing House. Nervous, yet excited, they are liberated by troopers using live ammunition.

Afterwards, the new boys meet their leader - tough, determined and professional soldier Henno Garvie. Both impress him but they have a lot to learn - for a start, they have never killed. Alex's brother Sam, the huge and affable Ricky Mann, the attractive but vain Jem Poynton, and good-natured old hand Pete Twamley make up the rest of the team.

Red Troop are armed with the black SAS uniform, an HK MP5 machine gun and a Sig Sauer pistol, ready to move into action at any time. But Henno is amazed when troop commander Dotsy Doheny gives permission for Jamie to visit his mother who has suffered a stroke. Jamie goes but has no real desire to return to his roots or see his violent step-father.

Meanwhile Duggan, an armed robber, assembles a team for a raid on a bank to steal Euros. All runs according to plan, until a policeman taps on the window of getaway driver Badger's car and the young man's nerves fail. The policeman asks him to get out and his pistol falls to the ground. The burglary is now a hostage situation.

When police negotiations fail, Red Troop storm the bank in a tremendous show of firepower. But as Jamie and Alex embark on their first real SAS operation, they discover that the life or death exercises become dramatically and tragically real...
