:Episode 5 - What In The Name Of God...:
Two police officers are shot dead at a religious
fundamentalist commune when they go to ask why the children have
been missing school. The killer, Omega, barricades his members into
the house, known as the Fort.
Mrs Twamley is worried about Pete's manic behaviour and Jamie moves into a new flat. Then Beth and Peter turn up bearing more bruises
from their stepfather Conrad.
After two weeks, there's deadlock in the siege and the SAS are called in. But with children inside, Dempsey tells the men to avoid
bloodshed. He also tells Henno to keep an eye on Pete.
On the way, Jamie tries to speak to Caroline about their relationship but she says they should move on. Pru briefs Red and Blue Troops
on Omega's background as Gulf War veteran Donal Klissman. With him
are eight children, nine women and at least 11 men - together with
an arsenal of weapons and explosives.
Superintendent Gardiner tells Macalwain he wants a quick end to the siege although the official position is to give the cult as
long as they need. Henno is not keen on immediate action with children
at risk and interrupts, angering Macalwain, who complains to Dempsey.
Henno finds a culvert leading into the courtyard of the Fort and they blast away the concrete blocking the tunnel, covering the noise
with a skip lorry. Omega is still extremely edgy and Michael, one
of his followers, is beginning to doubt him.
The regiment is put on a 30-minute standby and go to a hotel, where Mrs Twamley pays Macalwain an unexpected visit. They end up in bed
and Jamie finds her crying in her car afterwards. He comforts her
and is seen by a confused Pru, who tells Henno. Henno and Pru meanwhile
confess they are interested in each other.
In the middle of the night, Michael makes an escape but Omega guns him down. A woman, Susannah, sobs in the courtyard and Jamie is
sent in to get her through the culvert. But Susannah reveals the
cult's plans go wider than the siege at the Fort. The SAS must go
in silently and decisively if the children are to be saved. But
the day ends badly for Pete - while Jamie is questioned by the police.
