Sergeant Henno Garvie - Ross Kemp
Intelligent, unflappable and brave, Henno is the respected leader of Red Troop. An SAS trooper for 12 years, he has served in the Gulf, Falklands and Northern Ireland. The Regiment is his great love - and his marriage has paid the price.

Jamie Dow - Jamie Draven
Jamie turned round his unhappy childhood to achieve great success in the SAS, but the problems of his family are never far from his mind. Jamie has let down his guard to begin a secret relationship with Captain Caroline Walshe.

Pete Twamley - Tony Curran
Glasgow-born Pete's life was turned upside down when he was horrifically injured in a shoot-out in Bosnia. Although he is back at work, he is pushed into administration and longs for a return to active duty. But his emotional scars are not yet healed.

Ricky Mann - Danny Sapani
Ricky is easy going and warm but can possess the coldness of the best contract killer. Huge and powerful, he is fearless in dangerous situations. He's also a loyal team player and particularly close friends with Jem. But Ricky keeps his past a secret.

Jem Poynton - Elliot Cowan
Jem is a glory hunter who loves fast cars, designer clothes and women. He's a natural athlete, excellent sniper and supremely loyal to his mates. But he has a fragile ego and sees red when Jamie is given tasks he thinks are rightly his.

Louis Hoffman - Christopher Fox
Louis passed SAS selection first time and is posted to Red Troop. Out for himself and bluntly spoken, he has no particular loyalty to the men and enjoys stirring up trouble. But he can also be gullible and is sometimes the butt of their jokes.

Captain Caroline Walshe - Alex Reid
High achiever Caroline became a captain at just 25 and was posted to the SAS. A skilled interrogator, communications expert and man-manager, she hates to be treated differently from the men. Her career came first until she fell in love with Jamie.

Captain Dotsy Doheny - Jamie Bamber
Public school educated Dotsy proved himself in the shoot-out at Bosnia and won the trust of Red Troop, who had previously seen him as lightweight. Decent and straightforward, he is happy to share the leadership with the more experienced Henno.

Colonel Aidan Dempsey - Miles Anderson
Dempsey grew up in Rhodesia and has impeccable military credentials. As the commanding officer of 22nd Regiment, he always puts the welfare of his men first, although he longs to see a bit more of the action himself.

Captain Ian Macalwain - Richard Armitage
Macalwain is brought in to head up Red Troop when Dotsy is injured. His aggressive style contrasts sharply with Dotsy's and he expects the men to salute him and call him Sir. He clashes with Henno and views him as insubordinate.

Pru Banks - Lucy Akhurst
Pru works as a desk officer for M15 and is assigned to the SAS as its liaison. In her 30's she is intelligent, efficient and calm. There is an immediate mutual attraction between her and Henno.

Laura Twamley - Jackie Morrison
Mrs Twamley is married to Pete and is the only wife readily accepted by the troop. When Pete is almost killed in Bosnia, she devotes herself to getting him back on his feet. She finds the psychological fallout difficult to deal with and needs a friend.

Sean Smith - Derek Horne
Sean Smith serves with Blue Troop and is brought in on joint operations with Henno and Red Troop. He is a skilled soldier with a good sense of humour and is particularly good on undercover operations and bodyguard work.
